Hi! My name is Britney Wilkins, and I am the Library Media Specialist at Addison Elementary School. I am a 2000 graduate of Addison High School. I attended the University of North Alabama, where I earned my K-6 Elementary Education degree in 2004. Then, I earned my Master's degree in Library Media from the University of West Alabama in 2014. I have taught kindergarten, 3rd Grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, and reading intervention before I became the librarian here at AES in 2021. 

I am so excited to serve as our Library Media Specialist! I love having the opportunity to connect with our students and teachers throughout the school year. The library is a place where students can discover new interests, develop creativity, and grow as learners. Students will visit the library each week for their scheduled library time and also have an additional lab time every other week. During the library classes, students will check out books and learn about topics such as how to locate a book in the library, story elements, text features, and more through engaging read-alouds. They will also complete hands-on makerspace STEAM stations at various times throughout the school year. During lab lessons, students will develop research skills, learn about plagiarism, digital citizenship, coding, and more. 

Students may also visit the library during the digital assistance block for Chromebook troubleshooting and technology needs. My goal is to make the library a welcoming place where students want to explore, learn, and develop a lifelong love of reading!
